summary of the summer

Hello blogging world! So once again it's been a ridiculous amount of time since my last post. I'm not very patient/good at uploaded pictures so this might just be words for now. Our summer was great! Definitely not long enough since it was snowing til June and started getting cold and rainy the end of August! Oh well. It's not like I got a break from my routine of work and wifehood. Scott enjoyed his break from school. He is back to start his major in Urban Planning and loving it. It's always easier when you actually enjoy your classes. Which means I'm back to editing/writing papers. We went on a cruise to Mexico to celebrate our anniversary, went to Bear Lake, saw my brother and dad graduate with their Master's degrees, welcomed back my in-laws from their mission, got a new calling as the Stake Mission Prep teachers, and enjoyed being married :) I guess I just feel like our lives aren't super exciting so it's hard for me to blog about the boring everyday-ness of our lives :) anyways... just thought I would say hi to whoever may read this! Until next time, caio!

sick day

So I have this personal struggle with taking sick days. Unless I am laying on my deathbed, I just push through my illness and go about my day the same ol same ol. The last time I took a sick day, I couldn't get out of bed without puking. With that said, the last couple days I have been feeling like CRAP. My sinues, my stomach, my intestines, my head, my throat, it's been rough. Keeping me awake all night long and tosing and turning. I was kinda having a hard time breathing so Scott and I decided to FINALLY go to the doctor. Can I just say that I hate the doctor. Seems like everytime I go to the doctor, they don't tell me anything I don't already know. And then I pay them for pretty much nothing. And we can't totally afford random doctor visits since our deductible is ridiculously high. So because of the breathing thing, I got nervous that maybe it was something more serious, like pnemonia or something so we decided to take a trip to urgent care. It was kinda funny actually because they asked me what we were there for and I just kept listing things. I have a sinus infection. That's it. Oh and she gave me a breathing treatment to help open my lungs up. Scott convinced me to stay home from work today so that I can recover. I fought and fought and fought and fought, but he insisted it was better for me to stay home. So I called my boss and told her I couldn't come in. I feel like I'm such a pansy. Like I can't handle being sick. And then I woke up feeling pretty good this morning and wishing I could go to work. But here I sit. Feeling decently healthy, and bored out of my mind. And time is just dragging on and on.
SOOOOOO I thought I would update the blog. Although there isn't much to update. Scott is in his next semester. Working on his portfolio for his Architecture application due in March, so we are starting to get nervous, anxious, excited. I'm still working, Scott is still working. That's our life. I'm not promising to be better at this blogging thing, but I promise to be entertaining when I do blog :) Until next time... caio!

I admit it.... I suck

Ok so I am completely lame at this blogging thing. I want to be better. I will be better. I'm not going to try to fill everyone in on what's new in our lives. I will give the quick update. I quit my second job at Cheesecake Factory so I could spend more time being a wife. About that time, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, which means I can't eat gluten, which is pretty much in everything. So that's been a total lifestyle change. Scott is still working his 2 jobs and started another semester of school. He can apply for the Architecture program in April and we are hoping for the best. If he doesnt get in, he's thinking about doing Urban Planning. He works so hard. We've been living in Scott's parents house in Salt Lake City since May so we've been able to save some money and after the crazy drama of real estate, we are buying a house!! It's a town house in Woods Cross (which is totally not where I thought we would be, since we were looking in South Salt Lake Valley for 95% of our search), but we are so excited about it!! It's the perfect little starter house in a beautiful growing community.
Plus we have an amazing view of the Bountiful temple, which is where we got married almost 18 months ago!! Which brings me to the next topic. I have been Mrs. Memori Holtry for 18 months tomorrow! Holy cow I can't believe how fast time has flown. I am the luckiest girl in the whole world to have found Scott. He really is my better half. I love him so much and couldn't even imagine what my life would be without him. He is my rock and makes me want to be a better person. I am so excited for what our lives have in store for us. I really will be better about blogging more often. I guess I just never think anything super elaborate happens. Plus I'm not an expert at posting pictures and stuff. I suppose I will have to become proficient. Anyways.. Until next time, Caio!

Anniversary Pictures!

Ok so I stole this idea from my mom, but I really want to take pictures around the same time every year Scott and I are married. So last year we had our engagements and wedding pictures. Well we passed our first anniversary and were trying to figure out when and who could take our pictures. So this girl at my office is trying to build her profile for photography and offered to take our pictures. So we had a super fun time doing our photoshoot, and the pictures turned out amazing!! She is working on burning them onto a CD but as soon as she does, I will for sure post them. Scott keeps giving me a hard time, saying I need to change my profile pictures since we've been married for a year :). I'm pretty sure wedding pictures never get old, but it's still fun to get some new excitement so I'll humor him and update them as soon as we get our pictures! so stay tuned!

Happy summer!

So I know it's been forever, because it is always forever between posts, but we are still alive and well. I've discovered that when you work full time after college, life is pretty much the same year round, except that the weather is nicer in the summer, and you get a little darker (if you;re lucky). SO my life is pretty much the same. I still work at Zion's full time and at Cheesecake Factory a few nights a week. Luckily they;ve cut back my hours so I've been able to spend more time with my stud muffin husband. He is not taking classes this summer so he's been able to take long naps and relax a little bit. Which is so necessary cuz he kills himself during school time. We were able to take our one vacation this summer to Bear Lake with my family and it was a much needed vacation. We were up there with just my family the first part of the week, then all my relatives came up. It was fun, boating, and relaxing, and just hanging out. Scott's sister was up there with her family and a bunch of people so we talked to them for a little bit. But alas, vacations only last so long before it's back to the real world. It's so hard to get time off from our 4 jobs so we most likely won't be taking any more vacations this year. Well maybe a few days for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We have gone to a bunch of wedding receptions and are going to a bunch more soon. That's what summer time is all about.
Hung out with one of my old roommates from freshman year, Melissa. That was so fun! Catching up with old friends is always a good time. I feel so far away sometimes even though we are just in Salt Lake. Went to the Oquirrh Mountain temple open house. Gorgeous! You should go if you have the chance. oooo I made a doctor's appointment for the end of this month to get my stomach checked out. SOOOOO hopefully we get some answers to what the heck is goign on with that. I haven;t had any problems lately, but I always have some kind of little tummy ache. It sucks. So yea, I'm excitd to see the doctor and see what he says. Since we hit our freakin ridiculous deductible with my hospital visit. Anyways.... not much else is going on with us. ummm and if there is, it obviously isn't significant enough for me to remember. I will post pictures.... eventually. And if anything major does happen, I will keep you posted I swear. I don't even know how often anyone even reads this, or if anyone even does. BUt just in case you are reading this update on our lives, things are well. We are alive and in love. I still feel like the luckiest girl in the world to be married to Scott. He really is the best thing that has happened to me. K well that's all I got for now. Caio!

And everything else

So along with our anniversary that we recently celebrated, we have also moved into my inlaws house to house-sit while they serve a mission in Nebraska. It's taken a little while to get situated and unpacked and settled (since we still both work 2 jobs and we moved right in the middle of finals week for Scott). I'm still trying to figure out the house, and I learn new things everyday. This house is old and has it's quirks that keep things interesting. It will be a good opportunity for us to save some money though. Scott finished his first year at the U and is ready for a summer break. Not much will change for my schedule since I was just working anyways, but he will get to take more naps and get more sleep now that he isn't in school. I still love my car. It makes me feel like a grown up. I went to the emergency room a few weeks ago because I was having really bad stomach and chest pain. After a bunch of tests, they concluded it was just really bad acid reflux. They gave me a really expensive medicine and said to go to a normal doctor in a few weeks. I've been taking my medicine and it's been helping a little bit but I still get nauseous and acid reflux, so who knows. The good news is we met our ridiculously high deductible and can now go see a specialist and try to get it all straightened out.
My sister, Melodi also went to the emergency room for a cracked skull from a long boarding accident. She spent the night in the hospital and is doing better now. No permanent damage. Scott and I went to Vegas for our anniversary. We needed a vacation. We had a great time and Scott got me the prettiest picture of the Bountiful temple! He totally surprised me. (He loves doing that). We got to see my Grandpa and his wife in St George which was a nice visit since we haven;t seen them in forever. We just got callings in our new ward. Teaching the 12-15 year olds Sunday School. So that should be fun. We love the youth. So that's pretty much us. I will upload pictures sometime. Until next time, caio!

One down... eternity to go!

So I know it's been a while since I've updated, but I just had to mention the fact that Scott and I have passed our one year anniversary!! I can't even believe it's already been a whole year! It has flown by so fast. Marrying Mr. Scott G Holtry was the best decision I have ever made. Every day I love him more and more and couldn't have asked for a more wonderful husband. He is such a support to me and is going to be an AMAzing daddy someday. I can't wait to see what kind of fun adventures we will experience!
