its been a while

i swear that should be the title of all of my posts. i always think i'm going to have a little more time to blog but then things are still as busy and crazy and they always are and i am exhausted by the time i get home. i wish i could blog at work but that would be so much more convenient. the last month has been interesting. we are still both working 2 jobs. scott's parents left for their mission to omaha, nebraska winter quarters. scott applied to byu. we are still waiting to see the results of that. scott has had spring break this past week, which has been a productive and relaxing break for him. he always works so hard, even when he doesn't have school. i'm so lucky to have such a motivated and hard working husband. scott also just found out he is changing branches at zion's bank. he will now be working at su banco, which is an all spanish branch in west valley. good news is he will be closer to me and get more hours. we'll see how it works out with his hours and everything else he tries to do. we are going to bear lake tonight for the weekend to spend some time together and just get away from craziness of life. we are going to try to go to the draper temple dedication on sunday. hopefully the weather cooperates. my birthday is next saturday. i can't believe i'm turning 23. i feel so grown up! haha. i was in charge of kenzie's bacheloretter party that really was a party. it was going to be just 4 of us, the same group that did my bachelorette party, but then it turned into 17 people. we went to dinner at mimi's cafe and went and saw, he's just not that into you. love it! we had a cousin party last week which was super fun. oh and we also went and looked at some townhouses. just to kinda get an idea of what kinda thing we will be looking for when we try to buy a house in a couple years. we got our taxes done, thanks to my sister in law and mom. scott has been slowly moving things into my inlaws house so we can gradually move in. ummm i think thats all. i am supposed to be packing for our trip but i thought i would catch everyone up. i really will post pictures soon. i think my hours at cheesecake are cutting back because we've just hired a ton of new people so thats good. give me a little bit of a break. anyways... thanks for listening! until next time, caio!

one more thing...

Scott did not make the Utah football team. He had a try out and they only took one guy to walk on. He was glad to have the opportunity though. He is now in the process of applying to BYU. He has been in contact with the coaches at BYU to see if maybe he can play for them. THey were really interested in him last year but he applied after the deadline so we'll see what happens this time around. They were excited to hear from him again. We'll keep you posted!

Oh the Adventures!

So I know it's been forever since I've actually blogged but that is because we are so dang busy!!! I know you might think that is an overexaggeration but I can guarantee that we are super duper busy. I have been working full time at Zion's bank for about a month now. It's been great! I still have tons to learn but I'm getting the hang of things and actually survived my first week by myself! (My boss went out of town to get divorced). I am still working at The Cheesecake Factory a few days a week. When I got hired at Zion's, I told Cheesecake that I could only work nights and only 3 or 4 a week. Well they were scheduling me like 4 or 5 nights a week and I was exhausted! Scott keeps telling me to quit so that I can get more rest. I feel bad that Scott works so much beacuse he still works at UPS in the early morning and still works at Zion's bank. AND he's in school full time. I would rather be working hard right now and letting him spend time on school and try to give him some kind of break. Once I get home from the restaurant, we go straight to bed. Needless to say, we hardly see each other and I'm gaining weight. It kinda sucks since I have no time to work out and my eating habits are out of control. Anyways... we are alive and well. My inlaws got thier mission call to Omaha, Nebraska and leave March 16. So we will be moving into their house sometime between March 16th and May 4th (that is when our lease is up). We had a great Valentine's day. We both had to work during the day, but we were able to spend the evening together. We cooked the most amazing Chinese Barbecue Salmon. I'm going to post pictures soon I promise. Every extra second that I have goes to sleeping or eating. Mostly sleeping. Anyways... so I just wanted everyone to know we are still alive and if you want to hang out, let's plan it a few weeks in advance. So until next time, caio!

Another New Job

So I got a new job at Zion's Bank. I start on Monday and I have mixed emotions. I am excited to start a new job and to have a full time consistent job. The paycheck will be nice. I'm nervous because I've never worked in the banking industry and I'm not quite sure what I'll be doing for my job. I sure hope it's a smooth transition and is a job I can handle. My time and availability will be limited once I start this job, which is ok, but is also less time I get to spend with my amazing husband. We are still working on getting his schedule figured out with school and football and jobs. Scott has met with some of the football coaches and he hasn't really gotten any clear answers. We are hoping by the end of the month, we have a better idea whether he will be playing or not. Until then, I just worry and stress about it, and Scott has to remind me to not worry. He is so calm about the whole thing, which I admire because I just think about it everyday. I know it will work out, I just need to have the patience to get through it. I've been battling sickness again. I swear I have been sick for the past 4 months and I just can't shake it. I keep hoping I will feel better soon. And I know there are so many of our friends that we need to hang out with, but our schedules are still totally crazy. We really are trying our best to hang out with everyone! It's so hard because I feel like I don't know what our schedules are going to be like until the day before, which does not work well for my planning and organized mindset. We will try super duper hard to make plans to hang out with everyone. But if it doesn't happen for a while, please please please don't be offended. We will make it happen soon! I will be sure to update about my new job and what's going on with scott's life! until next time, caio!

Complicated

So I just need to vent about a little bit of my current frustrations and challenges. Things just get more and more complicated. Scott's school schedule has been changed like 3 times because of work and possible football training schedules. Scott is in the process of trying out for the University of Utah football team which is a great opportunity for him but its also made us change some of his schedule. If he does weight lifting with the team he has to have the afternoons between 2-5:30 in order for that to happen. Which means he might not be able to work at Zion's bank all the days he has been because it would interfere with his lifting time. He also had to change some of his classes because of the lack of sleep he's been getting because he's been working early at UPS. He would really like to quit that job and I really want him to be able to quit but if he can't work at Zion's, then we would only be relying on my paychecks, which are not consistent because of my spastic work schedule at the Cheesecake Factory. Also, if he doesn't work at Zion's, we lose our insurance. Alot to deal with and figure out. It's been kinda hectic trying to get everything figured out. Makes me realize that no matter what kind of plans we have for ourselves, Heavenly Father has his own plans in mind. I know everything will work out, but I just hope I have enough patience to endure it.

Happy NEW YEAR!

It's been a while since I've blogged so I thought I would update everyone on what's going on. Scott and I went to Reno to spend Christmas with my family. We had to leave Christmas Eve because both of us had to work. There was a storm which sucked and made the trip even longer but we made it safe. Christmas was great. Scott surprised me with lots of fun presents, mostly Disney movies, which was so great. My parents did such a good job making sure we had a good time, and that Scott had enough to eat. On Christmas day we built a snowman and went sledding and ate foods and made gingerbread houses. And we spent time playing the Wii. Melodi's boyfriend bust open his knee so ke got to hang out on the couch most of the evening. Throughout the rest of the trip we went snowboarding, ice skating, eating, shopping, and hanging out with the family. Luckily the weather was better for our drive home. Here's a couple pictures from our Reno trip...

So we had to come back because Scott and I both had to be back to work. It was kinda a bummer but it was fine because Scott still got to sleep in a few more days before getting back to UPS and getting up before the sun. I had to work on New Year's Eve, which wasn't an ideal situation and it was surprisingly busy but I got off in time to make it to my sister in law Shelly's house for the annual New Year's party. I wasn't in total party mode since I had been working all night but it was still fun. And it was pretty funny because everyone was super tired on January 1st.
We've just been working and Scott's been getting ready for school to start. Luckily he doesn't start til January 12th so that's good. The crappy weather hasn't boosted any of our moods but that's ok. I have been looking for a new job that has a little bit of more of a consistent schedule. So we'll see how that goes. We have 9 am church these days. Which is only kinda nice because it used to be the only day Scott got to sleep in, but that also means we get to take afternoon naps, which are the best.
We have decided that we are going to make an extra effort to try to hang out with our friends more often. We also didn't get Christmas cards out this year but I am hoping to get some out next year. So don't be afraid to text or call us! We hope everyone had a fantastic and safe holiday!!

ALMOST CHRISTMAS!

So it's been a while since I've updated our blog so I thought I would catch everyone up. I started my new job at The Cheesecake Factory and it's a been a pretty smooth transition. I work mostly in the day, which is nice cuz then I get nights with my stud husband. I have worked a couple nights and they haven't been too bad. Even the day time has been crazy because of the holiday so the night shift wasn't that big of a difference. Some people are difficult and rude but I take it pretty well. There are times I just want to smack some people, but for the most part, people appreciate what we do. I think I have a good personality for this. Everyone I work with like me, and are always complimenting me about how good I am with people. (Wow that sounded conceded but that's just the way it is. hahaha). Scott is all protected because everyone is all flirty and friendly and a bunch of them have told me how beautiful I am. One guy even asked me when I'm going to leave my husband to be with him! Scott wants to come beat up everyone. haha. It's been nice knowing I get a paycheck.

Scott finished the semester with a bang. It was kinda rough because he got sick for a week with something called positional vertigo, which means he couldn't see straight because he felt like everything was spinning. He threw up a few times because he was spinning so fast. He missed a bunch of work because he couldn't even get out of bed. His couldn't drive either because of his condition. He tried to take one of his scheduled finals but his teacher saw how sick he was and let him go home. He missed one of his finals because of a time misunderstanding, a sick teacher, and because he was making up his other final that he tried to take before. His teacher let him take it and he's hoping he doesn't get too penalized. We pulled an all nighter trying to finish papers and projects, which we think contributed to his sickness.

We've also had interesting car drama. My car has been dying a slow painful death. We've spent a good amount of time debating whether we wanted to buy a new car or just try to get my car fixed. We were under a time crunch because my car registration was expiring at the end of December. So we got my car to pass safety and emissions (BARELY). I think they were really leinient. I had to buy a new windshield. Well so after we got that fixed (which cost $180) then my car decided to break down and die. I was picking up Scott from his final that he attempted to take and we were on our way home and the car died. My dad said it sounded like an alternator. It made for an interesting and long night. We had it towed to a car fixing place and it took forever to get it fixed. We called them the next morning and asked them if they had figured out the problem. They said it was the alternator belt and it froze up because my A/C compressor doesn't work. That was the same reason we had to replace all my other belts because we didn't want to fix the AC. Especially at this time of year when it's freezing and snowing. So they spent an entire day trying to reroute the alternator belt so it didn't have to go around the AC compressor. They said my starter was ok (which I thought needed some work because it always makes noise when I start my car), and they said my alternator was running on 13 volts instead of 14 volts so I should replace my alternator. We didn't think it was that critical so we are just driving it til it dies. I went and finally got my car registered this morning and it only cost $60, which was way lower than I thought it would. So I guess that means that I am officially a Utah resident cuz my car has Utah plates. Oh well. haha. Oh and then I was driving home from the DMV and my car almost died AGAIN! My radio shut off and my dashboard headlights were super dim. So hopefully my car survives a few more months without anymore expensive or dramatic car problems.

We are headed to Reno on Christmas Eve to see my family. Hopefully the weather stays clear and we don't have car problems. We are excited to get some time away and with our family. It is a necessary vacation.

So I think that's all the new things in our lives. We hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas and holiday season. Travel safe and Merry Christmas!
